Midwives' Choice

For the past three editions, the Kind + Jugend ceremony has also included the Midwives' Choice, an additional award presented within the same evening, recognising a product specifically valued by midwives and birth professionals. diefarbenull integrates this award seamlessly into the programme alongside the 8 Innovation Award categories, so both awards share the same dramaturgical arc.

The Kind + Jugend Innovation Award is an annual award for outstanding product innovation in the international baby, toddler and juvenile products industry. It is presented at Kind + Jugend — the world's leading trade fair for the sector — held at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. Eight product categories are awarded each year, plus the Midwives Choice, an additional award for the midwifery profession. The ceremony has been produced and directed by diefarbenull annually since 2014.

The Kind + Jugend Innovation Award ceremony is produced and directed by diefarbenull, a Show Architecture studio in Cologne, Germany, led by Show Architect Cihan Hazar. The studio has held this mandate every year since 2014. diefarbenull is responsible for the complete production: visual concept, screen design, nominee and winner clip production, jury statement integration, moderator rehearsals and live show direction at Koelnmesse.

The Midwives Choice is an award presented within the Kind + Jugend Innovation Award ceremony that recognises a product specifically selected and valued by midwives and birth professionals. It sits alongside the eight main product category awards and is produced with the same dramaturgical quality as the rest of the ceremony. diefarbenull has integrated the Midwives Choice into the live programme across multiple editions.

For the Kind + Jugend Innovation Award, diefarbenull records jury statements at the actual jury session, before the ceremony. These recordings are edited and integrated as video segments into the live programme, giving the audience expert commentary on how products were assessed and what criteria the jury applied. This transforms each winner announcement into a narrative moment. The same approach is used by diefarbenull for the EISENaward.

The Kind + Jugend Innovation Award has eight product categories, each with its own nominee and winner clip produced by diefarbenull. All eight categories are presented and awarded within a single ceremony evening at Koelnmesse in Cologne. The ceremony also includes the Midwives Choice as an additional special award.
